Time as Shape

Support

Time as Shape turns a video into a volume you can move around and cut through. Questions, bugs or ideas: email me@jody.xyz.

Getting started

The app opens with a sample video. Tap its name to open the controls. Import brings in your own video. Drag to rotate, pinch to zoom and drag with two fingers to reposition. The sun/moon button switches between dark and light.

Recording and AR

Record opens the capture options. In space places the volume in your room with AR. Both need camera access and supported hardware. If you denied camera access, turn it on in Settings › Time as Shape. AR works best in a well-lit space with visible surface detail. Keep an eye on your surroundings while you move.

Keeping part of a video

Open Key. Luma keeps a range of brightness, Colour keeps pixels near a chosen colour and Saturation keeps a range of saturation. Sample video lets you pick a colour straight from a frame. Invert swaps what is kept and removed; Softness smooths the edge. View mask previews the selection and is never included in exports.

Exporting

Use the export button at the top right. Choose a video, still or image sequence, then the ratio, size and camera move. Saving to Photos asks for add-only access; Share / Files works without it. Exports are silent. If a large export fails, try a shorter length or smaller size and check your free storage.

Performance

Long clips, dense rings and transparent layers take more work to draw. Try fewer frames or a narrower time window.

Saved studies

Save stores the current study on this device. Open the library to reopen or delete studies. Keep important exports somewhere else before removing the app.

Reporting a problem

Please include your device, iOS version, the app version (shown in the App Store) and what you were doing. A screenshot or short screen recording helps.
